Licensed Paralegal Practitioner

Licensed by the Supreme Court of Utah to provide limited legal services — affordable, licensed help with the family law matters that don't require full attorney representation.

What Is A Licensed Paralegal Practitioner?

A Licensed Paralegal Practitioner — an LPP — is licensed by the Utah Supreme Court and regulated by the Utah State Bar to provide limited legal services in specific areas: family law, debt collection, and landlord/tenant matters. Utah is one of only a handful of states to create the role.

An LPP is not an attorney and cannot argue your case in court. Within their licensed areas, though, an LPP can give you real legal help at a fraction of the cost of full representation — which is the point of the credential. It exists so that people who don't need, or can't afford, an attorney aren't left to face the court system alone.

If your matter turns out to need an attorney, you are already in the right place: our attorneys handle the full range of family, business and estate matters in Utah and Illinois.

What An LPP Can Do For You

  • Advise you on your options and on the court forms your matter requires
  • Prepare, complete and file approved court forms on your behalf
  • Review and explain documents the other side sends you
  • Communicate and negotiate with the opposing party on your behalf
  • Represent you in mediation and attend court proceedings alongside you

An LPP cannot represent you in a contested hearing or trial. If your matter reaches that point, one of our attorneys can take it from there.
